Samsung Electronics to hold DX division town hall meeting over bonus disputes

Samsung Electronics plans to hold a town hall meeting in October led by Roh Tae-moon, head of the Device Experience (DX) Division, to address growing internal dissatisfaction. The meeting aims to provide direct communication with employees regarding performance bonus disparities, business performance, and the company’s artificial intelligence (AX) transition strategy.

Employees in the DX Division, which oversees home appliances, smartphones, and TVs, have expressed significant frustration over the compensation gap between their division and the Device Solutions (DS) semiconductor division. While DS employees are eligible for substantial bonuses due to high operating profits, DX compensation levels have remained comparatively low. The Donghaeng Labor Union, which represents over 58% of the DX workforce, has been protesting the imbalance and demanding a common fund to stabilize compensation across different business cycles.

Samsung management has maintained a principle of separating financial resources between the DS and DX divisions. In addition to compensation issues, the meeting may address internal labor conflicts and legal controversies involving union-related data management.
