Samsung develops Galaxy Aero RTOS smartwatch to bridge Fit 4 and Watch FE

Samsung Electronics is preparing a new mid‑range smartwatch internally codenamed **Galaxy Aero**. Code discovered in the Galaxy Wearable app labels the device “galaxy_rtos_watch,” indicating it will run a lightweight real‑time operating system (RTOS) rather than Google’s Wear OS. The watch will feature a display, core health sensors such as heart‑rate monitor, accelerometer and gyroscope, and is expected to deliver a battery life of about a week, similar to the company’s budget Fit series.

The Aero is positioned price‑wise between the affordable **Galaxy Fit 4** fitness band and the mid‑range **Galaxy Watch FE**, filling a gap in Samsung’s wearable lineup. Leaks from SamMobile, Techgenyz and other sources confirm the RTOS approach, which should reduce power consumption and hardware cost. While the exact design of the screen (circular, rectangular or square) remains unknown, the device is slated for a launch alongside Samsung’s September hardware showcase.

Separately, the **Galaxy Fit 4** itself has passed FCC certification and is expected to launch in late 2026, offering incremental upgrades over its predecessor but retaining a focus on affordability and basic health tracking.
