Samsung Electronics unveils new memory and storage solutions for AI
Samsung Electronics has unveiled new memory and storage technology strategies designed to enhance artificial intelligence infrastructure. Announced at the OCP Global Summit in San Jose, California, the roadmap focuses on high-performance memory, memory expansion via Compute Express Link (CXL), and next-generation solid-state drives (SSD).
To address the high bandwidth requirements of AI, Samsung introduced customized high-bandwidth memory alongside eighth-generation HBM5. The company is also utilizing CXL technology to expand memory capacity beyond what is traditionally installed in individual servers, overcoming current limitations in AI server processing.
Additionally, Samsung is collaborating with AMD on joint CXL demonstrations. The company’s approach aims to increase speed, improve storage capacity, and ensure data sustainability through advanced SSD management and data caching software that allows AI systems to reuse previously processed data.
