Samsung ends support for Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic

Samsung has officially ended software and security support for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The devices have reached the conclusion of their five-year update lifecycle.

These models, which launched in August 2021, were notable for being the first in the Galaxy lineup to transition from Samsung’s proprietary Tizen OS to Google’s Wear OS. While they previously received OS upgrades up to version 6.0, they will no longer receive quarterly security patches. The final minimal update for these devices was rolled out in early August.

Currently, the oldest supported smartwatches in Samsung’s lineup are the Galaxy Watch 5 series and the Galaxy Watch FE. The Galaxy Watch FE remains supported despite sharing similar hardware specifications with the Watch 4 series.
