Samsung explores self-healing glass technology for future smartphones

Samsung is reportedly exploring the development of self-healing glass for the future Galaxy S27 Ultra. In collaboration with Corning, the technology aims to reduce micro-scratches through dynamic polymers or microcapsules that release repairing agents when the surface is damaged. This approach focuses on molecular reorganization via heat or pressure to diminish minor lesions.

In the current market, high-end displays are defined by varying specifications. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra features a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with Gorilla Armor designed to minimize reflections. The OnePlus 13 utilizes a 6.82-inch AMOLED LTPO 4.1 screen, while the Google Pixel 9a offers a more compact 6.3-inch OLED Actua display. While the Samsung and OnePlus models provide higher pixel density for sharper text, the Pixel 9a is optimized for one-handed use.
