Samsung Galaxy S27 series may adopt horizontal camera design

Samsung is reportedly planning a significant design shift for its upcoming Galaxy S27 series, potentially moving away from its traditional vertical camera layout in favor of a horizontal camera bar. This change is aimed at improving ergonomics by reducing device instability when placed on flat surfaces and creating more internal space for hardware.

Technical reports suggest this new horizontal alignment will facilitate the integration of Qi2 magnetic wireless charging standards, which have been difficult to implement with previous designs. However, this redesign comes with trade-offs; Samsung is expected to omit a variable aperture camera to manage device thickness, production costs, and industrial profitability.

While patent filings show these horizontal layouts on foldable devices, industry analysts suggest the design language may extend to the flagship S27 series to balance advanced optics with a sleek, modern aesthetic.
