Samsung unveils Galaxy Tab S12 series with MediaTek Dimensity 9500

Samsung Electronics has unveiled the Galaxy Tab S12 series, consisting of the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and the Galaxy Tab S12+. The new lineup features a significant shift in processing power, utilizing the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip built on a 3nm process. Samsung claims this hardware provides up to a 61% improvement in NPU performance for AI tasks, a 19% increase in CPU performance, and a 17% boost in GPU performance compared to the previous generation.

The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is noted for its ultra-thin design, measuring just 5.1mm in thickness, making it the thinnest Galaxy Tab to date. It features a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,600 nits of peak brightness. The Galaxy Tab S12+ offers a slightly more compact 12.6-inch display. Both models include IP68 water and dust resistance and are equipped with quad-channel spatial audio.

Productivity is a central focus, with the tablets integrating Galaxy AI features and supporting the S Pen. The devices run on Android 17 with One UI 9. Battery life is rated at up to 23 hours for the Ultra and 21 hours for the Plus, both supporting 45W fast charging. Pricing for the series starts at $1,399 for the Ultra and $1,199 for the Plus in the United States.
