Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra may feature enhanced split-screen privacy display
Samsung is reportedly developing an enhanced privacy display feature for the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra. This new iteration aims to extend privacy protections to split-screen mode, allowing users to darken one application while keeping the other fully visible and readable.
This technology, which builds upon the ‘Flex Magic Pixel’ system introduced with the Galaxy S26 Ultra, is designed to prevent ‘shoulder surfing’ in public spaces like trains or cafes. By dynamically controlling light output based on viewing angles, the display can obscure sensitive information such as banking details or passwords from side observers.
The move follows recent advancements by Xiaomi, whose 18 Pro model features a ‘Smart Privacy Display’ that already supports privacy protections during split-screen use, notifications, and floating windows. While Xiaomi currently offers more flexibility in privacy features, Samsung is expected to maintain a lead in the strength of its display dimming capabilities.
