Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 features upgraded health tracking and brighter display
Samsung's Galaxy Watch 9 is a premium smartwatch featuring significant hardware and software upgrades. It is powered by the Snapdragon SW6100 Wear Elite chipset, built on a 3nm process, which aims to improve processing speed and battery efficiency. The device runs on Google’s Wear OS 7 combined with Samsung’s One UI 9 Watch.
A major hardware highlight is the 1.47-inch Super AMOLED display, which reaches a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, enhancing visibility in direct sunlight. The watch is constructed with an aluminum body and sapphire crystal protection, maintaining an IP68 and 5ATM water resistance rating.
The device focuses heavily on health and fitness tracking. It includes an upgraded BioActive sensor and new metrics such as Heart Health Score, Fitness Index, and Daily Cardio Load. Testing has shown high accuracy in heart rate monitoring, performing within 1-3 beats per minute of professional chest strap monitors. Additional features include hydration guidance and various Vitals metrics via the Samsung Health app.
