Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 may receive offline Gemini AI support

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may soon support offline Gemini AI capabilities through future software updates. While not yet officially confirmed by Samsung or Google, technical indicators suggest the devices possess the necessary hardware and software to mirror functionality currently available on the Google Pixel Watch 5.

Offline Gemini allows users to execute basic voice commands without a Wi-Fi or cellular connection. Supported tasks include setting timers, activating Water Lock, turning on flashlights or Wi-Fi, starting workouts, and controlling music playback or volume. This feature is particularly beneficial for outdoor activities where mobile connectivity may be intermittent.

The potential compatibility is supported by the fact that these new Galaxy watches ship with Wear OS 7 and utilize the Snapdragon Wear Elite processor, which is capable of running these commands locally. Implementation would require the Gemini app to be updated to version 1.36 or higher.
