Samsung unveils Galaxy Watch 9, Ultra2 with five-year updates

Samsung announced the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2 at its Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event in London. The Watch 9 is offered in 40 mm and 44 mm sizes, runs on the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform, and includes health‑tracking sensors such as heart‑rate, sleep, and a new skin‑temperature sensor. It ships with a 590 mAh battery that provides up to three days of typical use.

The Ultra2 targets rugged outdoor use with an 800 mAh battery, a 5,000‑nit display, a 47 mm titanium case, IP68/69K water‑dust protection and dive certification to 10 ATM. It also features dual‑frequency GPS, a dedicated Trail mode and LTE connectivity.

Samsung extended its software support policy, promising five years of major OS upgrades and five years of security patches for both models, extending support through 2031—two years longer than Google’s Pixel Watch commitment. Pricing starts at $379 for the 40 mm Watch 9 and $699 for the LTE Ultra2. Pre‑order promotions in the Philippines offer up to 15 % discount and trade‑in incentives, while other markets report similar launch offers.

The company also began internal testing of One UI 9.0 on 49 Galaxy devices, signalling broader software upgrades across its lineup.
