Samsung unveils design overhaul and larger battery for Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Galaxy Watch 9

Samsung is set to launch the next‑generation Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 at its Galaxy Unpacked event on 22 July 2026 in London. Leaks show the Ultra 2 will receive a boxier, more angular case, thinner display bezels and a numbered dial, while the standard Watch 9 will adopt a sharper, more square design. Both models will be offered in three new colour options – black, silver and beige – with the beige variant limited to the base model.

The Classic line will be omitted this year, meaning the rotating‑bezel version will not be released. The Ultra 2 is expected to house a substantially larger battery, cited at 784 mAh (or up to 800 mAh in some reports), a significant jump from the previous 590 mAh cell, promising multi‑day endurance. Both watches will run on Samsung’s Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset and ship with One UI 9 Watch, featuring a refreshed Samsung Health interface, new watch‑face picker and updated compass app.

The refresh comes as Samsung’s Galaxy Watch shipments fell 28 % in early 2026, heightening the importance of the new lineup. The watches will debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series and other foldables, positioning Samsung to regain momentum in the competitive smartwatch market.
