Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 review: powerful foldable with design limitations

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 features a 6.9-inch OLED screen and a compact design, weighing 180 grams with a thickness of 6.1 millimeters when folded. While it offers modest improvements over its predecessor, it remains a leading option in the foldable market due to a lack of high-end competition from brands like Xiaomi or Oppo.

Technical performance shows the device can be twice as fast as some competitors in benchmark tests, and its new hinge design makes the screen crease nearly imperceptible. The 4.1-inch external display has improved usability through the ‘MultiStar’ expansion module, allowing access to apps like Google Maps and Chrome while the device is closed.

However, several drawbacks persist. The battery capacity remains low, and the 25-watt charging speed is considered slow compared to previous models from competitors. Additionally, the physical placement of volume buttons and the fingerprint sensor makes one-handed use difficult, and the device lacks dust resistance.
