Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 launches with upgraded cover display and lighter design

Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 8 at its Unpacked event in London on 22 July. The new clamshell foldable keeps the 6.9‑inch internal OLED panel with a 120 Hz refresh rate and the 4.1‑inch external Super‑AMOLED cover screen, but will allow full app usage on the cover display, removing the long‑standing limitation that only a few widgets could be shown.

Leaks indicate the device will be about 180 g – roughly 8 g lighter than the Z Flip 7 – and 6.1 mm thick when open, with a hinge redesign that reduces the visible crease. Internally it retains a Samsung Exynos 2600 processor, 12 GB RAM, 256‑512 GB storage options, a 4 300 mAh battery, a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 12 MP ultra‑wide lens, and a 10 MP front sensor. The launch price starts at €1 299 for the base model, €1 499 for the 512 GB variant.

Industry speculation suggests the Z Flip 8 could be the last of Samsung’s clamshell foldables before the company shifts focus to tri‑fold and multi‑fold formats. The device will be sold worldwide, with European pricing disclosed in the leaks.
