Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 launch set for July 26, privacy screen omitted as specs leak

Samsung is preparing to unveil its next flagship foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, at a Unpacked event in London on July 26, with shipments expected in early August. Leaked specifications show a 200 MP main camera, a 50 MP ultrawide sensor, a 10 MP 3× telephoto lens, up to 16 GB of RAM, a 5,000 mAh battery with 45 W charging, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. The model will be offered in two formats: the standard Fold 8 and the new Fold 8 Wide, which features a 7.6‑inch inner display with a 4:3 aspect ratio for a more tablet‑like experience. Pricing is expected to start at roughly $1,999 and exceed $2,500 for top‑tier configurations. Contrary to expectations, the Fold 8 series will not include Samsung’s privacy screen technology that debuted on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, despite the larger displays being prime candidates for such a feature. The omission has drawn criticism given the privacy screen’s usefulness for protecting on‑screen information. The launch arrives amid intensifying competition from other foldable makers and heightened consumer demand for better cameras and battery life.
