Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 series announced with higher prices and new Wide and Ultra models
Samsung is set to unveil its next‑generation foldable smartphones next month, adding the Z Fold 8 Ultra, Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 to its lineup. The new Z Fold 8 series will be priced above the current Z Fold 7, a rise attributed to higher manufacturing costs. While the 256 GB Ultra will keep the same price as its predecessor, the 512 GB and 1 TB variants will cost more.
The series introduces two distinct Fold 8 models. The Fold 8 Wide adopts a shorter, wider form factor aimed at better usability, offering 12 GB RAM, 256 GB or 512 GB storage, a 4800 mAh battery, a 50 MP main camera and up to 2600‑nit brightness. The Fold 8 Ultra retains the classic tall design, providing up to 16 GB RAM, up to 1 TB storage, a 5000 mAh battery, a 200 MP main camera, and similar high‑brightness displays. Both devices run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, support Wi‑Fi 7, NFC, UWB, satellite communication, and integrate Samsung’s Gemini Intelligence AI platform for features such as cross‑app email composition, real‑time translation and visual search. FCC filings list the model number SM‑F971U, confirming the hardware specifications.
