Samsung introduces Flex Titanium display for Galaxy Z Fold 8 foldables
Samsung announced a new Flex Titanium display structure that will debut at the Galaxy Unpacked event in London on 22 July 2026. The technology replaces the polymer film beneath the OLED panel with a titanium‑alloy film and adds a titanium plate beneath the display module. The alloy film provides roughly 20 times greater mechanical stiffness than conventional polymer while being about one‑third the thickness of a human hair, and the plate uses micro‑patterned holes to retain flexibility and eliminate air gaps.
Flex Titanium is designed to reduce the visibility of the central crease, improve overall durability and allow thinner, lighter foldable phones. Samsung says the improvement will appear first on the next‑generation Galaxy Z Fold 8 (and its Ultra variant) and may also be featured on other 2026 foldables such as the Z Flip 8. Pricing rumours place the standard Fold 8 around US$1,899 and the Ultra above US$2,099. Pre‑orders are expected to open immediately after the Unpacked keynote, with shipments slated for early August.
The rollout marks Samsung’s most significant hardware revision for foldables since the original Galaxy Fold, aiming to address the long‑standing complaint of crease visibility while maintaining the thin‑profile and flexible experience that define the category.
