Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 faces supply shortages amid high demand

Samsung is facing supply chain challenges for its Galaxy Z Fold8 following higher-than-expected demand. To address shortages of display driver ICs (DDIs) produced by Taiwanese company UMC, Samsung is reportedly diverting components originally reserved for next year’s models to meet current orders.

In the Middle East, the device is already on sale in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, where stock levels may fluctuate based on specific configurations.

Simultaneously, Samsung is conducting a large-scale promotional campaign in Istanbul, Turkey. Running from mid-August through late September, the activation involves mobile teams in high-traffic areas like Nişantaşı and Bağdat Caddesi to provide hands-on demonstrations of the foldable device. The campaign includes a digital component, ‘Try Galaxy’, allowing consumers to test features via QR codes on their own smartphones.
