Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 shatters global pre‑order records ahead of launch
Samsung Electronics reported that its new foldable lineup – the Galaxy Z Fold8, Fold8 Ultra and Z Flip8 – broke pre‑order records across several markets before the official launch on 7 August 2026. In South Korea the three models amassed 1.44 million pre‑orders in seven days, surpassing the previous Korean record of 1.38 million set by the Galaxy Note 10. In the United States pre‑orders were about 30 % higher than the prior Z‑series peak, with the Fold8 alone accounting for roughly half of U.S. demand. European pre‑orders exceeded the previous generation by around 20 %, and the Fold8 contributed about 40 % of all European orders. India saw 271 000 pre‑orders for the Fold8 and Flip8 within the first 72 hours of the launch announcement. Samsung said the global foldable‑phone market is expected to grow more than 20 % annually and double in size by 2028. Prices start at roughly $1 900 for the Fold8, $2 100 for the Ultra and $1 200 for the Flip8. The devices will be available through carriers, retailers and Samsung’s online stores worldwide starting 7 August, after the pre‑order window closed on 6 August (opened 22 July).
