Samsung Gallery integrates with Google Photos as OneDrive support ends

Samsung is rolling out a new integration that allows Galaxy smartphone users to sync photos and videos directly from the Samsung Gallery app to Google Photos. This transition follows the decision to end the native integration between Samsung Gallery and Microsoft OneDrive, which is scheduled to be discontinued by September 30, 2026.

The update is being deployed gradually via the Gallery Cloud Sync and Samsung Cloud services. To use the feature, users typically need a device running Android 13 or newer and a personal Google account. The integration allows for the backup of camera rolls, specific albums, and device folders such as screenshots or downloads.

However, there are certain limitations to the new service. Google Workspace accounts and parent-supervised Google accounts are ineligible. Additionally, synced items may not appear in certain Google Photos features, such as Memories, highlights, or live albums. Edited photos may also appear as separate items within the Google Photos app.
