Samsung Gallery to replace OneDrive backup with Google Photos sync

Samsung is replacing the built-in cloud backup functionality in its Gallery app. Following the decision to phase out the integration with Microsoft OneDrive, the company is introducing a direct synchronization feature with Google Photos.

Through an update to the ‘Gallery Cloud Sync’ service, users will be able to automatically sync photos, videos, and albums between the Samsung Gallery and Google Photos. The new ‘Sync with Google’ option allows users to select specific albums for synchronization and provides visibility into the remaining storage space available in their linked Google account.

While the integration with OneDrive is being discontinued, Microsoft has confirmed that the connection between the app and OneDrive will officially end on September 30, 2026. The new Google Photos integration is currently being rolled out to users.
