Samsung Health app gets AI-powered overhaul ahead of Galaxy Watch 9 launch
Samsung announced a major update to its Samsung Health app, beginning rollout on June 8. The redesign introduces AI‑driven insights and new health metrics to turn the upcoming Galaxy Watch 9 series into a proactive health companion.
Key features include the Vitals tool, which analyzes five overnight bio‑signals—heart rate, heart‑rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature and blood‑oxygen saturation—against a personal baseline and alerts only on significant changes. The former Vascular Load metric is replaced by a Heart Health Score that combines sleep, stress, activity and body‑composition data into a single daily cardiovascular rating. Daily Cardio Load measures accumulated cardiovascular strain to recommend optimal training intensity and rest periods, while the Fitness Index evaluates heart rate, VO₂ max and step counts against peers to highlight strengths and weaknesses.
The app’s UI is reorganised into five pillars—Sleep, Activity, Nutrition, Mindfulness and Vitals—and now displays AI‑generated daily wellness tips and an Energy Score. Additional enhancements cover Antioxidant and AGEs indices, a new Hearing Health monitor, and expanded nutrition tracking. The update is positioned as a preview of features that will be fully realised with the Galaxy Watch 9, Watch 9 Classic and Watch Ultra 2 expected at Samsung’s Unpacked event in London on July 22.
