Samsung invests $1 billion in AI infrastructure firm Helix
Samsung Electronics and five of its subsidiaries—Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance, and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance—have announced a combined $1 billion investment in Helix Digital Infrastructure. Samsung Electronics is contributing $500 million toward the total, with the remaining portion covered by its affiliates.
Founded by the global investment firm KKR and launched in June 2026, Helix is a structured AI infrastructure provider. The company offers integrated solutions across the entire value chain, including the development and operation of hyper-scale data centers, electricity production (both base load and flexible energy sources), transmission and distribution infrastructure, and fiber optic networks. This infrastructure is designed to help hyper-scale cloud providers meet the rapidly increasing demand for artificial intelligence.
Helix is led by former Amazon Web Services (AWS) CEO Adam Selipsky. Other founding investors in the venture include KKR, Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA), NVIDIA, and the US-based energy company Vistra.
