Samsung Launches Galaxy Z Fold 8 as Apple Targets 2026 iPhone Fold Debut

Samsung announced its Galaxy Z Fold 8 lineup, adding a thinner, lighter design, longer battery life, a reduced inner‑screen crease and new variants such as the Wide Fold and the premium Z Fold 8 Ultra. Production volumes are being increased for the larger foldables while the Z Flip 8 sees reduced output, reflecting Samsung’s focus on the growing foldable market.

Meanwhile, analysts anticipate Apple’s first iPhone Fold will arrive around 2026 with a starting price above $2,000. To justify the premium, Apple will need to out‑perform current leaders like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold and OnePlus’s Open, which offer high‑resolution cameras, water‑resistance and lower‑priced value propositions.

Both companies are positioning their devices to capture consumers seeking tablet‑like functionality in a phone, intensifying competition in the premium foldable‑smartphone segment.
