Samsung has begun mass production of its first PCIe 6.0 solid‑state drive, the PM1763, aimed at AI servers and high‑performance‑computing clusters. The drive uses ninth‑generation V‑NAND and a 4 nm controller, delivering up to 28,400 MB/s sequential reads and 21,900 MB/s writes in a 16 TB configuration. It supports liquid‑cooling, post‑quantum cryptography and is positioned to remove storage bottlenecks for large language models, allowing a 40 GB model to load in roughly 1.4 seconds.

In parallel, Samsung introduced the consumer‑focused SSD 990, a DRAM‑less PCIe 4.0 NVMe drive sold in 1 TB and 2 TB capacities. Samsung markets it as its most power‑efficient SSD, with sequential read speeds of 7,150–7,250 MB/s and writes of 6,450 MB/s, and endurance ratings of 400 TBW (1 TB) and 800 TBW (2 TB).
