Samsung launches Virtual Home platform for testing smart home automation

Samsung has introduced Virtual Home, a web‑based interactive platform that lets users explore the functions of a connected home without installing any apps or purchasing devices. Accessible through any browser, the interface mirrors the SmartThings control panel, offering a map view of rooms, a catalog of compatible appliances such as air conditioners, blinds and robot vacuums, and routine configuration tools that demonstrate how devices can coordinate automatically.

Key features include SmartThings Energy monitoring, which displays real‑time electricity consumption, cost estimates and AI‑driven advice for optimizing device schedules, and Family Care, a remote‑assistance service that tracks activity patterns of elderly or dependent household members and alerts users to unusual inactivity. The platform aims to lower the entry barrier for consumers considering a shift to home automation by showcasing practical benefits and ease of integration.
