Samsung readies Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Ultra for July Unpacked event
Samsung is using a cryptic social‑media campaign to build hype for its next foldable lineup, slated for a Galaxy Unpacked show on 22 July in London. Teaser videos show everyday objects being cut into short, wide rectangles, hinting at a new “wide” form factor: a 4:3 internal display of about 7.6 inches and a 16:10 cover screen of roughly 5.5 inches. The device, dubbed Galaxy Z Fold 8 (or Z Fold 8 Wide), will weigh around 201 g, making it lighter than previous models. Technical specs leaked include a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, up to 12 GB RAM, up to 1 TB storage, a 4,800 mAh battery with 45 W wired and 15 W wireless charging, and dual 50 MP rear cameras (f/1.8 main, f/1.9 ultrawide) plus 10 MP selfie sensors. The higher‑end Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is set to carry a 200 MP main sensor, an additional 50 MP ultrawide, a 10 MP telephoto and the same selfie setup. Samsung also plans to launch the Galaxy Z Flip 8 alongside the Fold series, though some reports suggest the Flip line may be phased out in favor of the new foldable format. The company has even wiped its Instagram feed to focus on the teaser campaign, emphasizing storytelling over specs until the official announcement.
