Samsung Life Insurance completes record $1.5 billion overseas hybrid bond issuance
Samsung Life Insurance has successfully completed the issuance of $1.5 billion (approximately 1.98 trillion KRW) in overseas hybrid securities, marking the largest issuance of its kind by a domestic Korean insurer. The 30-year maturity bonds carry a coupon rate of 6.875% per annum, with interest paid semi-annually.
The issuance saw significant international interest, with long-term investors from the United States and Europe accounting for 49% of the participation—the highest ratio recorded for a Korean insurer's hybrid bond issuance. The securities are scheduled to be listed on the Singapore Exchange.
Samsung Life Insurance plans to utilize the raised funds to proactively strengthen capital adequacy indicators, maintain stable shareholder return policies, and secure mid-to-long-term growth engines.
