Samsung Medical Center Professor publishes baby immunity weaning guide

Professor Kim Ji-hyun of Samsung Medical Center, a specialist in pediatric allergy, has published a new book titled ‘Baby Immunity Weaning Encyclopedia’ in collaboration with Professor Yang Yoon-jung of Dongduk Women’s University.

The guide focuses on preventing food allergies by providing practical instructions on when and how to introduce common allergens such as eggs, dairy, wheat, and peanuts. The authors emphasize that delaying the introduction of these foods due to fear of allergies can lead to nutritional imbalances and reduced dietary diversity.

Spanning the first 1,000 days of life, the book covers stages from pregnancy and breastfeeding through various weaning phases up to 12 months and beyond. It includes customized immune management recipes to assist parents in providing balanced nutrition.

To mark the publication, the authors donated funds to Aeranwon, a welfare facility for single-parent families, to support healthy growth environments for infants.
