Samsung One UI 9.5 leaks reveal glass design and App Lock
Leaks regarding Samsung’s upcoming One UI 9.5 interface, based on Android 17, suggest an accelerated development cycle. Early firmware discovered on Galaxy S26 and S27 Ultra devices indicates a significant visual shift toward a “glassmorphic” design. This aesthetic features translucent elements, subtle backdrop shading, and increased depth through drop shadows on widgets and navigation bars.
Key functional updates reportedly include a native App Lock feature, allowing users to secure individual applications using existing biometric or PIN methods without third-party software. Other changes include a redesigned Phone app with a relocated search icon in a floating bottom bar and enhanced AI integration.
While One UI 9.0 is currently being rolled out to various devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8, One UI 9.5 is expected to debut officially with the Galaxy S27 series in early 2027. Additionally, Samsung has announced that the Galaxy Watch 4 series will no longer receive One UI 9 Watch updates, marking the end of its major OS and security support cycle.
