Samsung raises repair‑part prices in South Korea

Samsung Electronics has increased the prices of components supplied to its service network in South Korea. The adjustment, announced in early July, is the second price rise this year after a similar increase in January. Average cost hikes are about 5% for the Mobile Experience division (phones and tablets) and 9% for the Digital Appliances division (air‑conditioners, washing machines, etc.). Specific average increases reported include 8,000 KRW for air‑conditioner repairs, 3,000 KRW for refrigerator repairs and 11,000 KRW for smartphone repairs. Samsung attributes the changes to higher prices for memory chips, semiconductors and other raw materials, driven by strong demand for AI‑related hardware. While the higher component costs could eventually be reflected in consumer repair bills, Samsung has not yet confirmed any direct pass‑through to end‑users. Analysts note that repair‑part pricing is a way for the company to protect profitability amid tight competition on finished‑product prices, and the adjustments may spread to other markets if the cost pressure continues.
