Samsung cuts Galaxy S26 prices, pushes surprise update for older models

Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S26 line has seen a sharp price reduction in Vietnam. The 256 GB version is now sold for 20.5 million VND, a drop of 5.5 million VND, while the 512 GB model falls to 26 million VND, down 6 million VND. Retailers note that the Galaxy S26 Ultra accounts for about 70 % of total sales.

Separately, Samsung released an unexpected software update for the Galaxy S8, S8+ and Galaxy Note 8, nearly ten years after their launch. The update, rolled out in the United States via Verizon, targets performance and overall system stability but does not introduce a new Android version or additional security patches beyond those from 2021.

Looking ahead, Samsung is testing new screen technologies for the upcoming Galaxy S27 Pro. Leaked details suggest a 6.47‑inch LTPO display with adaptive refresh rates and a second‑generation Privacy Display that shields the screen from onlookers. The features are still under internal evaluation, with possible market introduction in 2027.
