Samsung reveals AI-driven My FanCam technology for Galaxy Z Fold8

Samsung Electronics has detailed the development of ‘My FanCam’, an AI-powered video tracking feature integrated into the Galaxy Z Fold8 series. Introduced at the Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2026, the feature allows users to select a specific individual within a video, after which the system automatically tracks that person throughout the footage.

Developed through a collaboration between Samsung Research and the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business, the technology utilizes on-device AI models to recognize both the location and visual characteristics of subjects. This enables the system to maintain focus even in complex scenes or when multiple people are present. To improve efficiency, the AI analyzes multiple subjects during the initial processing phase, allowing users to switch between different detected individuals without waiting for the system to re-process the video.

While the concept was inspired by the popularity of fan-focused videos of artists, Samsung designed the tool for general use, such as capturing family members or friends. The feature also includes improved Portrait Video capabilities to simulate professional lens effects and integrated aspect-ratio adjustments for easier social media sharing.
