Samsung rolls out One UI 9 and Android 17 to Galaxy devices
Samsung has begun the global rollout of its One UI 9 software update, which is built on Google’s Android 17. The update is being deployed across multiple device generations, including the Galaxy S25 series, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and the Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Following initial releases in South Korea, the update has expanded to the United States, India, and various European markets. While the rollout is gradual and varies by carrier and region, it is reaching both flagship slate phones and foldable devices. For users transitioning from previous versions, the download size can be substantial, often exceeding 3 GB.
Key features introduced in One UI 9 include enhanced Galaxy AI capabilities such as ‘My FanCam’ for automated subject tracking in videos and ‘Now Nudge’ for contextual action suggestions. Other improvements focus on user interface customization, such as a more flexible Quick Panel, enhanced Samsung DeX productivity tools, and new security features like ‘Security Brief’ and ‘Privacy Alerts’ to monitor app behavior.
