Samsung One UI 9 rollout faces battery and setup issues
Samsung has begun the global rollout of its One UI 9 update, based on Android 17, across various Galaxy S, Z, A, and M series devices. While the update introduces enhanced AI features, improved privacy controls, and interface refinements, several significant technical issues have been reported by users.
Owners of Galaxy S24 and S25 series devices have reported substantial battery drain, with some users noting extreme power loss even during standby or minimal usage. Additionally, Galaxy S26 Ultra users have encountered a critical setup bug where the device becomes stuck on a black screen with a “web page not available” error, potentially due to instabilities in the Android System WebView component. Samsung has advised some users to switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data to bypass setup blocks.
The official rollout schedule, initially detailed via Samsung Japan, includes a wide range of smartphones and tablets, with deployment varying by region, carrier, and model. While flagship devices like the S26 series were among the first to receive the update, the rollout is now expanding to mid-range and budget models, such as the Galaxy A series.
