Samsung rolls out security patches for Galaxy Watch 5

Samsung has begun rolling out the August 2026 security patch for the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro series. The update, which addresses 56 security vulnerabilities, is being released first in South Korea.

While the security patch is being deployed to newer models, there are indications that the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic may not receive the upcoming One UI 9 Watch software update based on Wear OS 7. Although Samsung has not officially confirmed the eligibility list, the Watch 4 series is approaching the end of its five-year security support cycle, which is expected to conclude in August 2026.

Historically, Samsung has provided four generations of operating system updates and five years of security patches. The Watch 4 was a significant device for the company as its first smartwatch to run pure Wear OS in partnership with Google.
