Samsung shares plunge in Asia as European price leaks signal higher device costs
Samsung Electronics saw its shares fall nearly 7% after reporting second‑quarter results that missed expectations, dragging Asian‑Pacific stock markets into the red and sparking investor concerns about the tech sector’s outlook.
Separate leaks show that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8, Z Fold 8 and the new Z Fold 8 Ultra, along with the Galaxy Watch 9 line, will be priced 100‑280 euros higher in Europe than the prior generation. The Fold 8 Ultra could reach €2,799, making it the most expensive Samsung phone sold in Europe. UK figures suggest base prices of £1,149 for the Flip 8, £1,699 for the Fold 8 and £1,899 for the Fold 8 Ultra.
