Samsung unveils Galaxy Z Fold 8 series with wider design ahead of July launch
Samsung is set to launch its next generation of foldable smartphones at the Galaxy Unpacked event on 22 July in London. The lineup will include the Galaxy Z Fold 8, a larger‑screen Fold 8 Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Flip 8. Teaser videos released on Samsung’s social channels use everyday objects being “cut” or reshaped and carry messages such as “Bold stroke, New shape”, indicating a shift to a wider 4:3‑style aspect ratio.
Leaks reveal that the standard Fold 8 will feature a 5.5‑inch cover display and a 7.6‑inch inner screen with a 4:3 proportion, powered by a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, 12 GB of RAM, and a 4,800 mAh battery with 45 W fast charging. The Ultra variant adds a 200 MP main camera and a 5,000 mAh battery. Weighing about 201 g, the Fold 8 is expected to be the lightest model in the series. The Z Flip 8, possibly the last of its clamshell line, is rumored to use the same chipset, weigh around 180 g and retain its 6.9‑inch inner panel.
Promotional material in Malaysia that offers a RM700 e‑voucher valid from 22 July to 4 October suggests sales will begin on the launch day. Leaked images also show the new colour options, including a purple‑burgundy shade. Together, the teasers, specifications and launch timing point to Samsung’s effort to refresh its foldable portfolio with a more ergonomic form factor and upgraded hardware.
