Samsung SmartThings app gets major UI overhaul with pill navigation

Samsung is set to roll out a major redesign of its SmartThings smart‑home app. The update will introduce a pill‑shaped bottom navigation bar with five tabs—Home, Devices, Life, Routines and Menu—aligning the app with the One UI 8.0/8.5 design language used across Samsung devices.

The home screen will feature dynamic wallpapers that change with the time of day and user location, offering nine built‑in options and the ability to use personal images. A new “SmartThings Now” card will recommend unused SmartThings functions, and users can disable it if desired. Additional home‑screen widgets will let users control devices, screen‑based devices and routines without opening the app. The redesign is expected to follow the stable release of One UI 9.0 on Galaxy devices.
