Samsung strips Vascular Load from US Galaxy Watch, adds cuff‑calibrated Blood Pressure Trend

Samsung announced that the Vascular Load health metric will be removed from compatible Galaxy Watch models sold in the United States. The change takes effect with the Samsung Health 7.0 and One UI Watch 9 update expected in late July. Existing Vascular Load records will be deleted unless users export their data beforehand.

The company will replace the feature with a new Blood Pressure Trend function, which requires users to calibrate the watch with a traditional blood‑pressure cuff before it can record trends and provide wellness tips. The removal currently applies only to the US market and affects the Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic and Watch 8 Ultra. Samsung cited regulatory requirements for accurate cuff‑based measurements as the reason for the change.

Samsung confirmed the update via an email notice to users and has not provided further explanation. The move may set a precedent for future regulatory scrutiny of smartwatch health metrics in other regions.
