Samsung One UI 9 rollout faces software bugs and battery issues

Samsung is currently deploying its One UI 9 interface, based on Android 17, across various device categories, but the rollout has been met with several technical challenges.

Flagship users of the Galaxy S26 series have reported critical stability issues. Some Galaxy S26 Ultra devices have become virtually unusable due to a software flaw that causes the device to enter an infinite boot loop during the initial setup process. Additionally, owners of the Galaxy S24 and S25 series have reported significant battery drain following the update, with some devices losing power in as little as five hours under intense use.

In response to these stability concerns, Samsung has released an unscheduled software update for the Galaxy S26 lineup to address frozen screens and include a bootloader upgrade.

The rollout also extends to the Galaxy A series, including the A56, A16, A17, A07, and A35, as well as wearable technology. For the Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra, One UI 9 Watch (based on Wear OS 7) is undergoing beta testing, introducing new health monitoring features such as daily cardiovascular load displays and heart health scores.
