Samsung to adopt Qualcomm Snapdragon chips for upcoming Galaxy devices

Samsung is reportedly planning to replace its in‑house Exynos processor with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip in the entry‑level Galaxy A18 5G. The device is expected to use a Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, which offers slightly higher performance and better GPU performance than the Exynos 1330 used in the Galaxy A17 5G. The switch is seen as a cost‑saving measure and a way to improve graphics and AI capabilities for budget smartphones.

Qualcomm has also teased a custom Snapdragon platform for future Samsung Galaxy flagship models, continuing a multi‑year partnership that already powers devices such as the Galaxy S25 series and the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The customized chip aims to boost AI processing, camera performance and wireless efficiency, offering a more optimized experience for premium Samsung phones.
