Samsung to bring Tizen OS 10 update to smart refrigerators and appliances

Samsung is set to roll out the Tizen OS 10 update to a selection of existing smart home appliances, including Family Hub refrigerators and Bespoke AI laundry machines. The phased global rollout is scheduled to begin in September 2026.

For compatible Family Hub refrigerators released between 2021 and 2025, the update introduces AI Vision powered by Google Gemini. This feature enhances the recognition of both fresh and packaged food items to improve inventory management. Additional software features include ‘Now Brief’ for personalized daily schedules and ‘What’s For Today’ for meal suggestions based on available ingredients.

Bespoke AI laundry appliances from 2024 and 2025 will receive an upgraded version of Bixby, capable of more natural language and conversational voice interactions. Furthermore, washers and dryers equipped with 7-inch Smart Screens will receive a refreshed user interface featuring an ‘Easy Mode’ for simplified navigation. Availability of specific features will depend on the model, year, and region.
