Samsung readies Galaxy Z Fold 8 with wider cover screen and new camera layout

Leaks of Samsung’s next foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, indicate several hardware upgrades aimed at improving everyday usability. The outer “cover” display is expected to be noticeably wider, addressing past complaints about one‑handed typing, while the inner 8‑inch main panel will retain a 120 Hz refresh rate. A revised camera module is slated for the rear, featuring a higher‑resolution ultra‑wide sensor and the removal of the 10 MP telephoto lens, a mix of upgrades and downgrades.

The device is rumored to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with up to 16 GB of RAM and a 5,000 mAh battery supporting 45 W fast charging. Additional refinements include a slimmer hinge, reduced crease visibility and continued S Pen support. A variant called the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is also reported, offering an even broader outer screen and a slightly altered camera setup.

Samsung is slated to unveil the Z Fold 8, the Z Flip 8, and the Galaxy Watch 9 series at its Galaxy Unpacked event in London in July 2026, where the company may also debut its first smart‑glasses offering.
