Samsung to use own OLED panels for Galaxy S27 after BOE talks collapse

Samsung Electronics has decided to equip the upcoming Galaxy S27 smartphone with OLED displays produced by its subsidiary Samsung Display, ending negotiations with Chinese rival BOE. Reports indicated that Samsung had considered sourcing panels from BOE to cut costs, but internal disagreement and pressure from Samsung Display led to the deal’s termination. The shift means the Galaxy S27 will continue using Samsung’s in‑house panels, preserving the display quality expected by consumers.

The failed BOE talks were confirmed by ET News, which noted that despite BOE initiating a dedicated project after receiving a request for information, Samsung ultimately abandoned the plan. Samsung’s decision underscores its strategy to keep key components within its own supply chain.
