Samsung unveils 140 trillion‑won investment in South Korea's Chungcheong region
Samsung announced a multi‑sector investment of roughly 140 trillion South Korean won in the Chungcheong region, focusing on display production, high‑bandwidth memory (HBM) fabrication and packaging, battery manufacturing and AI‑server package substrates. The plan includes a 56 trillion‑won HBM fab and packaging hub in Cheonan‑Onyang, a 67 trillion‑won display campus spanning Asan and Cheonan, a 9 trillion‑won battery line in Cheonan and an 8 trillion‑won AI‑server package facility in Sejong.
In response, Asan city established a “Samsung Investment Administrative Support Task Force” to provide a one‑stop system for permits, infrastructure development, transport upgrades, housing improvements and talent attraction, aiming to accelerate the project and spread its economic benefits throughout the local economy.
