Samsung unveils agentic Galaxy AI to streamline smartphone tasks

Samsung Electronics announced its next‑generation Galaxy AI, which it describes as an “agentic” artificial‑intelligence system that can understand a user’s overall goal and coordinate actions across multiple apps and devices. Executives said the AI will move beyond opening individual apps, using a chat‑based interface and a Mobile Context Protocol to enable seamless task completion while keeping processing on the device to protect privacy.

Jay Kim, head of Customer Experience for Samsung’s Mobile eXperience Business, explained that the new AI aims to make daily life “simpler, more personalized and respectful of privacy.” He added that apps are unlikely to disappear, but their usage will evolve as AI takes on more coordination roles. The company highlighted challenges in markets such as India, where linguistic diversity requires extensive local R&D input.

The roadmap envisions AI agents that can plan trips, answer messages, retrieve information and create content without the user having to switch between apps, extending the experience from smartphones to tablets and wearables.
