Samsung unveils Galaxy Watch 9 and Ultra 2 designs ahead of July Unpacked event

Leak reports from multiple sources reveal that Samsung will introduce two new smartwatches – the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 – at its Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for late‑July in London. Both devices keep the familiar “squircle” case design from the previous generation, offering 40 mm and 44 mm sizes for the Watch 9 (cream/graphite for 40 mm, silver/graphite for 44 mm) and a 47 mm premium Ultra 2 in titanium gray or silver. The watches will be sold in Bluetooth‑only and LTE variants, but no 5G connectivity is expected for the Watch 9.

The principal hardware change is the shift from Samsung’s Exynos chips to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear Elite (Snapdragon Wear Elite) platform, bringing a dedicated AI NPU, improved performance, and better power efficiency. The Ultra 2 is also reported to gain a larger 800 mAh battery (up from 590 mAh) and new 1‑12 hour numeric markings on the bezel that echo Samsung’s Classic line. Both models will feature sapphire crystal fronts, 10 ATM water resistance, GPS, and LTE connectivity. Prices are expected to rise modestly, with estimates around $399 for the smaller Watch 9 and $429 for the larger version.

These watches will launch alongside Samsung’s upcoming foldable phones – the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Z Flip 8 – marking a coordinated refresh of the company’s premium ecosystem.
