Samsung Unveils Flex Titanium Tech for Stronger Foldable Phone Screens

Samsung announced a new "Flex Titanium" construction for foldable OLED displays. The design places a titanium‑alloy support layer beneath the OLED panel, combined with ultra‑thin glass (UTG) and a protective top coating, to minimise the visible crease at the hinge and improve screen durability and longevity. Samsung says the titanium film is only about one‑third the thickness of a human hair, allowing thinner, more resilient devices while maintaining repeated folding performance.

The company highlighted that the technology is part of a seven‑year investment in foldable‑phone engineering, aiming to meet consumer expectations for both compactness and flagship‑level reliability. As Samsung Electronics Baltic’s communications manager Eglė Tamelytė noted, “Inovatyvūs technologiniai sprendimai turi būti pastebimi ne tik specifikacijų lentelėje, bet ir juntami kasdien naudojantis įrenginiu.”

Details of the five‑part stack – protective layer, UTG, OLED panel, titanium alloy film and titanium support plate – were illustrated, showing how forces are distributed during folding to reduce stress and visible ridge formation.
