Samsung unveils AI-powered Galaxy Glasses to extend smartphone experience

Samsung announced its first AI‑powered eyewear, dubbed Galaxy Glasses or "intelligent eyewear," at the Unpacked event in London on July 23, 2026. The device is positioned not as a smartphone replacement but as an extension of AI experiences, employing split computing that offloads heavy processing to a paired smartphone.

The glasses feature no built‑in display; interaction relies on audio feedback and a built‑in camera that streams visual data to Google’s Gemini AI model. This enables real‑time translation, live navigation, meeting‑note summarisation and hands‑free media control. They can also pair with Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds for gesture and audio command handling.

Samsung emphasized a lightweight design achieved with ultra‑slim hinges, thin injection‑molded parts, and titanium/aluminum materials, aiming for comfort and everyday wear. Two frame styles were created in collaboration with eyewear designers Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.

A prototype was previously shown at Google I/O 2026, and Samsung expects the glasses to launch later in 2026, though no price or exact release date has been disclosed.
